33] –  Participate in 10 Days of Prayer to Strengthen a Community of Peace starting on Fri., Sept. 8 through Sun., Sept. 17, 2017 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, 1301 N. Broom St., Wilmington 19806. In the wake of Charlottesville, there is a need for interfaith truth-tellers more than ever. InterFaith Leaders for Neighborhood Ministries asks your partnership (as individuals and as organizations/house of faith) in Ten Days of Prayer to Strengthen a Community of Peace, in Wilmington and its surrounding area. During these Ten Days, prayers are to be offered to answer the violence in our midst with spirit and prayer. 34] – Osher at JHU is hosting “Understanding the Immigration Debate” on Fri., Sept. 8 from 10:30 AM to 2 PM at the JHU Columbia Center, 6740 Alexander Bell Drive, Columbia 21045.  George Clack, a spokesperson for the Howard County chapter of the Indivisible Working Group on immigration, will offer an interactive session, with the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.  What is meant by the term “sanctuary” and how frequently this concept has been misunderstood. The Trump administration has changed previous U.S. government policies on undocumented immigrants and refugees. What is the fate of the Maryland Trust Act in the state legislature? 35] – On Fri., Sept. 8 from noon to 1 PM, join the Dorothy Day Catholic Worker in a vigil urging the powers that be to abolish war and torture, to disarm all weapons, to end indefinite detention, to close Guantanamo, to establish justice for all and help create the Beloved Community! 36] – On Fri., Sept. 8 from noon to 1 PM, join a Women in Black peace vigil. A vigil will take place in McKeldin Square at the corner of Light and Pratt Sts. Stay for as long as you can. Wear black. Dress for who knows what kind of weather. Bring your own poster or help with the "NO WAR IN MY NAME" banner.  When there are others to stand with, you don't need to carry the burden alone. Do this to be in solidarity with others....when everything around us says “Be afraid of the stranger.” Carpool and parking available. 37] – The People's Convergence Conference will take place from Fri., Sept. 8  through Sun., Sept. 10 at American University, Washington School of Law, 4300 Nebraska Ave. NW, WDC. The Delivery of the Draft Bernie Petition to Sen. Sanders on Fri., Sept. 8, beginning with a rally from 1:30 to 2:30 PM on the National Mall, 7th St. and Madison Dr. NW. 39] – There is usually a silent vigil on Fridays, from 5 to 6 PM, sponsored by Homewood Friends Meeting, outside the Homewood Friends Meetinghouse, 3107 N. Charles St.  The next scheduled vigil is on Sept. 8. Black Lives Matter.  

40] –  On Fri., Sept. 8 at 5 PM at Points South Latin Kitchen, Bmore Together unites for Homeless Veterans.  Come enjoy a fun night out for an incredible cause. Bmore Together is uniting with MCVET: Maryland Center for Veterans Education and Training. Enjoy an evening of BINGO to support homeless veterans. MCVET is committed to offering a military-structured, seamless continuum of care that helps veterans in need transition from dependent to independent living. 41] –  Hear NUCLEAR ABOLITION TREATY – NOW THE WORK BEGINS with Sister Ardeth Platte and Sister Carol Gilbert, O.P. on Fri., Sept. 8 at 7:30 PM at Dorothy Day Catholic Worker, 503 Rock Creek Church Rd. NW, WDC 20010. On July 7, 2017, at the conclusion of the “UN Conference To Negotiate a Legally Binding Instrument to Prohibit Nuclear Weapons,” 122 countries voted in favor of a historic “Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.” The U.S. and other nuclear nations boycotted the conference. Dominican Sisters’ Ardeth Platte and Carol Gilbert, longtime peacemakers who have been imprisoned for Plowshares actions, attended this special UN Conference. 55] –On Sat., Sept. 9 at 6 PM, get over to Circle of Voices on Gender Based Violence at the Impact Hub Baltimore.  Savannah Badalich is an innovative leader utilizing media, technology, and community organizing to address gender-based violence and discrimination. While in college, she was at the forefront of the campus sexual assault movement and created a White House-recognized campaign – 7000 in Solidarity: A Campaign Against Sexual Assault, a multi-campus sexual assault prevention campaign that combines education, arts activism, and advocacy.

56] – Activists Joyce and Tim Wheeler now live in Sequim, Washington, but their son, Morgan and his family have lived in the Wheeler’s Baltimore home, 816 Beaumont Avenue for some time.  Tragically, at 3 AM on February 4, the home was burned beyond recognition.  Morgan was able to get his family out, but the house and its contents are totally destroyed.  Morgan's daughter, Erin, has created a Go Fund Me page which you can access below.  Anything you are able to contribute to support Morgan and his family would be greatly appreciated.
